VISUAL ARTS

Curriculum

Our Visual Arts program immerses students in a world of creative possibilities, guided by a diverse team of experienced teachers. Students are introduced to a broad spectrum of disciplines, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and woodworking. Through hands-on projects and expert instruction, they gain a solid foundation in both the technical and conceptual aspects of art.

As students explore various mediums and techniques, they are encouraged to experiment and express their unique perspectives. Whether working with traditional methods or embracing modern forms of visual expression, our program fosters creativity and critical thinking, empowering students to discover their passions and develop their own artistic voice.

Dear Motoongees,

Our art curriculum is designed to inspire creativity and self-expression while refining technical skills across various media. With a range of diverse courses, students of all levels—beginner to advanced—can develop their artistic talents in a supportive and professional environment.

Our facilities include fully equipped woodworking workshops and dedicated art studios, providing students with access to both traditional and modern tools. We offer a range of art classes tailored to each student’s abilities, ensuring personalized growth and development throughout their education career.

To provide an authentic experience of the professional art world, we host an annual art exhibition in a professional gallery space, showcasing the works of our students. This opportunity allows students to learn the full process of exhibiting their work, from creation to presentation, while gaining invaluable real-world experience.

At CCAS, we are committed to fostering creativity, innovation, and a lifelong passion for the arts.

2024

- 6th Art Exhibition "Piece by piece" @Superior Gallery

From elementary students to high school seniors, this exhibition brings together a collection of artworks created with shared purpose and passion. Reflecting the idea of gathering diverse pieces into one cohesive whole, we’ve titled this exhibition ‘조각보’—a traditional Korean patchwork quilt symbolizing unity through individual expression.

Our youngest artists, inspired by the concept of a "school of fish," recreated the harmonious and social patterns of fish swimming together. Through this collective image, the students reflected on their own communities—classrooms, schools, and even the sense of family they share with each other. By comparing themselves to a tightly-knit school of fish, they beautifully captured themes of friendship and unity.

From simple colored paper to pencils, acrylic paint, traditional Korean hanji paper, and even silicone, the students used a variety of materials to bring their ideas to life. Under the guidance of our art teachers, they learned that art is not only a way to express their thoughts and emotions but also a healthy outlet for their energy and desires.

Through drawing and crafting, students were encouraged to observe the world closely, think creatively, and channel their imagination into tangible forms. This process helped them not only develop their fine motor skills but also fostered a deeper understanding of self-expression.

2023

- 5th Art Exhibition "As Slow As Possible" @Superior Gallery

We all know A.S.A.P. stands for "As Soon As Possible"—a phrase we hear constantly in our fast-paced lives, where time is something we race against. But how often do we pause to savor the moment? This exhibition reinterprets A.S.A.P. in a refreshing way: As Slow As Possible.

In this exhibition, we invite you to slow down. Instead of rushing through life with efficiency and convenience as the goal, take a moment to truly engage with the artwork. The students and art team have crafted each piece with deep intention, spending time not just in creating but in understanding. The experience encourages you to leave the ticking of the clock behind and immerse yourself in the emotions and stories each piece has to offer.

In a world driven by speed, automation, and instant results, the message to slow down might seem counterintuitive. But that’s exactly what makes this exhibition special. The students have poured their hearts and time into their work, offering a gentle reminder to savor, not just consume.

Art isn’t measured by efficiency. Its value lies in its ability to provoke thought and stir emotion. Even if it doesn’t serve a practical purpose or produce tangible results, art’s impact is undeniable. Through this exhibition, we hope to inspire viewers to reflect on their own pace in life—choosing, as we did, to embrace slowness.

From 3D printing to oil paints, acrylics, and silicone, each student used diverse materials to bring their ideas to life. One of the core values emphasized by our art teachers is communication with the audience. While these works are deeply personal, they were created with great care to ensure that their messages connect with others.

Step into the gallery, take a breath, and let the art speak to you, as slow as possible.

2022

- 4th Art Exhibition "Zoom In & Zoom Out" @Dimension Gallery

This year’s exhibition brings together the creative voices of 32 aspiring artists from middle and high school, presenting over 60 unique pieces that explore the theme of "ZOOM IN & ZOOM OUT." As you step into the gallery, extending even to the basement, you'll be immersed in the students' diverse interpretations of viewing the world both up close and from a distance, inviting you to reflect on how proximity and perspective shape our understanding of the world around us.

What makes this exhibition special is the inclusion of younger middle school students, many of whom are new to the world of art. Guided by personalized, one-on-one coaching from our experienced art teachers, these budding artists have completed their works, proving that passion and dedication can transform any creative vision into a powerful piece of art.

Art, however, is not just about seeing the world from one angle. As an artist, your work may seem perfect in your eyes, but true mastery lies in the ability to step back, reexamine, and view it from the perspective of others. At the same time, we encourage viewers to not only focus on the intricacies of each piece (zooming in) but to also zoom out, connecting the artwork to broader themes and ideas. When artists and audiences both embrace this dual perspective, they can find deeper, shared meanings in every piece.

2021

- 3rd Art Exhibition "Journey" @Insa Art Plaza

The theme of this year's art exhibition, Journey, captures the students' exploration of self through the concept of "travel." Featuring 48 works, the exhibition provides a unique experience for the students, helping them transition from learners to artists.

Like performers on stage, these young artists become creators when their work is displayed and engaged with by an audience. The exhibition is essential for their growth beyond academic goals, allowing them to reflect on their artistic identity and develop as independent artists.

This exhibition offers aspiring artists the opportunity to experience what it truly means to be an artist, beyond the confines of traditional academic paths.
